RevivSF Was A Remarkable Experience!
When Anne and I visited the RevivEE group in Bucharest, Romania, this spring, we were deeply touched by the mixture of sacrifice, faith, and love - all wrapped in joy - that exuded from the team of 20+ led by Shawn and Lena Wooten. Now in its fourth year, the program is about spiritually reviving Eastern Europe. When Anne and I returned home, we felt inspired to share a portion of what we had seen God doing through RevivEE here in the Bay Area. Shawn advised us to find a handful of disciples willing to volunteer for a mini version of what we had seen. We hastily put together a three-week plan and hoped for a dozen to join us on the adventure. On May 1st, we launched RevivSF with a team of twenty-four souls, determined to focus on loving God, loving each other, and loving our community. We just completed what we are now calling "Season 1" this past week. It was an amazing time, to say the least. The heart and spirit of it was certainly to stretch our faith and share it with others. But we relied on prayer rather than goals and accountability. Specifically, the only ask was that each team member would pray every day for each of the other team members - that God would provide open doors and that we would be willing to step through them. We met by Zoom every few days to encourage each other with what we saw God doing. For those that could, we fasted once a week and then met on Zoom to simply pray. The result of our 21 days was remarkable! We got close to each other; we enjoyed a refreshing level of vulnerability in a safe space; we cried; we laughed; we enjoyed endless communication on WhatsApp; we shared Scriptures and insights and laughs and photos; we confessed fear and failure and weakness and joy and gratitude. During these three weeks, many great conversations were had with our friends, neighbors, and strangers (who became friends). Numerous people started looking at the Bible; friends came to church; a new women's Bible Talk started with eight visiting friends; a new small group Sunday service began with six neighbors joining. By the end, we were tired, but God definitely revived us! Please talk to someone who was a part of Season 1 of RevivSF to get their perspective and hear more encouraging stories. And if you are interested, we will be doing "Season 2" sometime in the near future… Stay tuned! - Brock |

Recollecting Memories Of Fallen Heroes On Memorial Day
We wish you all a Memorial Day full of love and gratitude. Joshua 4:4-9 So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, and said to them, "Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, 'What do these stones mean?' tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever." So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, accord-ing to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the Lord had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down. Joshua set up the twelve stones that had been in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day. The practice of memorials is found in the Bible and has occurred for thousands of years. As a country, we remember those who have fallen on Memorial Day Monday. This practice has been celebrated in May since the Civil War here in the USA, but the practice of having memorials is a very old tradition. Unfortunately, there are still many wars happening worldwide, and there are still different kinds of wars happening in this country. Many of us remember fallen heroes on Memorial Day and are grateful for their example and sacrifices. As the country celebrates Memorial Day, we hope that each of us can take some time tomorrow to remember fallen heroes in our own lives that we can pray for, honor, and recollect memories of as we go about our day. For all of us who have fallen heroes in our families, we are sorry you have lost someone you love, and we thank you and them for your and their sacrifice. We wish you all a Memorial Day full of love and gratitude. |
