Eyes That See - Missions May
This past Wednesday, we had our all-fellowship Midweek Service and discussed our midweek services for the month of May, which are focused on giving or what we can call "Missions." The ICOC (International Churches of Christ) Global Missions Team invited ICOC fellowships to participate in the "Eyes That See" Month of Missions campaign during May 2024. During midweek, we watched a video called the Eyes That See Video. This 4-minute video helped cast a vision for giving Missions this year with the faith that together, we are stronger than alone as independent churches. The ICOC Global Missions Team is trying to highlight work that still needs to be done and will be working with different Missions Societies worldwide to find out what their needs are and help them fundraise. They are using the All Nations app to share daily videos from churches worldwide, sharing what God is doing in their part of the world. Please download the All Nations App if you would like to take part in getting the daily videos for the month of missions. There was also an hour-long sermon that Doug Arthur gave about Eyes That See. If you want to watch this hour-long sermon, please click HERE. Finally, please join us at our next Midweek Service on May 15, where we hope to have guest speakers share what they are doing in their part of the world. Also, please pray about what part of the world you would like us to give to as a fellowship group. We hope to have a few options to choose from that you can give to if you would like to participate. It is also fine if you prefer to give to another part of the world. If you choose to refrain from participating in this campaign, that is fine as well. We want to come together as a fellowship and provide an opportunity to those who want to give as a fellowship group to do so as part of the May Missions Giving campaign. More to come on this topic in the upcoming weeks, but if you have any additional questions, please ask your Fellowship Group Leaders. |

Celebrating AAPI Heritage MonthAdvancing Leaders Through Opportunity This month in the US, we pay tribute to the generations of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who have contributed to America's history. We have a large and rich population of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in the Bay Area. This year's theme is the end of a four year theme about advancing leaders through opportunity, focusing on creating opportunities for people to get to know each other more and understand each other's history and cultures, hoping that people will become friends and respect each other's differences. AAPI Heritage Week began on May 4 and marked two historic occasions: the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the mainland United States on May 7, 1843, and the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869, thanks in large part to the work of as many as 20,000 Chinese immigrant laborers. Then eventually, it became a month-long celebration. You can attend many virtual events to learn more about these cultures. You can find some at asianpacificheritage.gov, and PBS has some great documentaries, specifically for AAPI Month. There are mnay in-person events around the Bay Area starting next weekend and you can find them via a quick Google search. SF has many special events that you can find on this website www.apasf.org. We want to acknowledge the many generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history and are instrumental in its future success. RevivEE 5.0 Team – Preparing for Launch
(Article from DisciplesToday.org on Shawn and Lena Wooten – Bucharest, Romania) We are excited to introduce you to our amazing RevivEE 5.0 team! Forty-two courageous and sacrificial souls are packing up their bags and getting ready to spend 10 months in Eastern Europe, with a dream to bring an eternal hope to a nation! This amazing team has Christians from 18 to 65 years old from eight different nations. We will come together to love God, love each other, and then pour this love into the cities of Chisinau, Bucharest, and Sofia, Bulgaria! This year we have a new strategy where our team will actually break into three nations to serve: Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria. In May, as we as a fellowship get revived in our passion to help a lost world make it to heaven, I pray for all of us to dream of a revival in our personal walk, and in our local fellowship! Lena and I will be packing our two suitcases and moving to another country, now for the fifth year in a row. It has been an honor and a blessing to be a missionary in our fellowship for 32 years. Thank you for all the support and all the prayers over these years! Love you all, How can you help? 1. Pray for the RevivEE team! Join us on our LIVE prayer times on Facebook and Youtube @shawnrevivee. 2. Consider signing up for RevivEE 6.0! The applications will be available on September 1, 2024. We are currently planning on heading to Zagreb, Croatia. Request information at missionrevivee@gmail.com 3. Many of these teammates are fundraising right now. They are self-funded and live on a humble budget for the 10 months they are overseas. If you are reached out to, please consider supporting the mission effort! Maybe you can not travel overseas yourself right now, but you can go “virtually” by supporting one of the team members. We are also raising money for some of our candidates who are currently from Eastern European countries, and do not have the financial community that is able to support them. Consider supporting one of these missionaries from the Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania! 4. Follow us! Join us virtually and get RevivEEd! Maybe you can’t travel on RevivEE – but you can join us virtually – and get inspired and encouraged as you serve God where you are.
