Oahu’s 35th Anniversary
We will not hide them from their descendants;
we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. Psalm 78:4
In 1989 Anne and I were 26 years old, and two years into our marriage, when we were asked to lead a team of 21 disciples to plant the church in Honolulu, Hawaii. Last Sunday we got the opportunity to celebrate the 35th Anniversary with the Oahu Church of Christ. With the theme “Ho’oilina”, which means “legacy” in Hawaiian, the church gathered to commemorate all that God has done, and continues to do, in building a loving family of Jesus followers in the islands!
For Anne and I it was a chance to share with the church some of the miraculous stories from the early years of the church, which now serve as an anchor for our own faith. It was encouraging to recount the stories of so many lives impacted – 235 baptisms in the first 18 months, and churches planted in Hilo, Guam, and Maui. We also got to fellowship with some of the original team members who are still there, and many of the disciples from the early weeks and months of the church. God has been good through the years, despite the inevitable ups and downs of life this side of heaven.
Anthony and Saun Galang have done an amazing job of leading the church there the past 13 years. On Sunday they shared with the church how God works not only in the past but also in the present to use each of us to create a legacy. Nick and Shelly Galang closed-out the anniversary service talking about the future, and the dreams of continuing to build the legacy for the next generation.
The trip was a faith-building time for Anne and I, and gave us a chance to appreciate what God is doing here and now with the SF Bay Fellowship. Each of our lives, and, by extension, each of our fellowship groups, is creating a legacy of love and faith and service to God and the community as we gratefully participate in the story that God is writing here in the Bay Area.

LendHOPE worldwide aims to break cycles of material poverty using micro-funds.
LendHOPE worldwide inspires entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, give back to their communities, and support local economic development. LendHOPE worldwide aims to break cycles of material poverty by empowering small business owners and career-motivated individuals through access to capital, high-quality mentorship, and local training. Their vision is to support vibrant communities and economies as small business owners and career-motivated individuals are empowered to grow their businesses, start their careers, give back to their communities, and insert more capital into their local markets while inspiring donors through their stories of resilience and success. LendHOPE worldwide works with each individual through micro-funding that is crowdfunded on their micro-funding app. As a part of the LendHOPE worldwide community, each individual will support other local micro-funds over time through their process of reciprocal giving. This multiplies the impact of every donation and furthers sustainable development driven by the local community. Currently, the LendHOPE worldwide program is active in 10 countries and has funded more than 100 micro-funds, resulting in 100% engagement in reciprocal donations. Read entrepreneur Omar Zamboni's story: Omar Zamboni, a LendHOPE worldwide entrepreneur, has led his business with resilience despite the continued challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Zamboni lives in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and is the owner of Zamboni's Gourmet Chilis. Zamboni recently went through the LendHOPE worldwide Entrepreneurship Program and received a small microdonation. This funding helped him purchase the raw materials needed to produce his salsas in bulk. Additionally, it allowed him to invest in product design and branding, which has effectively made his company more well-known. 2020 was a challenging year for so many, but Zamboni’s city was struck particularly hard. San Pedro Sula not only had to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic but was also hit by two devastating hurricanes that left behind complete destruction. These external challenges created several roadblocks for the expansion of business. Zamboni’s business was limited in what it could produce for a handful of months due to these difficult and unforeseeable circumstances. However, despite these obstacles, Zamboni was able to use his microdonation to increase his sales by about 16% in just a few months! He is so excited about his recent business success, his products, and the positive feedback he has been getting from his customers. Besides being an incredible businessman and owner, what stands out about Zamboni is his gratitude. His gratitude is reflected in his desire to have the resources to give to others even a fraction of what God has given to him. In partnership with LendHOPE worldwide, he is more quickly able to fulfill this dream. Zamboni is faithfully engaging in LendHOPE worldwide’s redonation cycle, giving back the money he has received to other LendHOPE worldwide participants, just like him. LendHOPE worldwide is more than an App, it’s a global social network where we can partner with our neighbors to inspire greater hope. If you are interested in helping out through micro-funding, please watch the video and download their app to learn more. (Article from the HOPEworldwide website.) For more infomation visit:

Thank You For Your Donation/Tithe!
We wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who have generously donated or tithed to our fellowship to help us advance the gospel throughout the Bay Area. In September, our average weekly donation was $4311. We continue to pray that God will move in remarkable ways and multiply what we have to help many souls have a relationship with God. If you are interested in donating or giving a tithe to our fellowship, please click on the "Tithe" button below. We appreciate any and all donations and hope that God multiplies them in blessings for you and your loved ones. Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” For more infomation visit:
