Sharing From Lynn About Her Restoration
After running from God for 17 years, my faith in God and commitment to His church have been restored. I was baptized in 1991 in the University of Hawaii campus ministry under Brock and Anne. I was so blessed to be part of that ministry, the singles ministry, and then I got married in the church. When hardships started happening in my marriage, I blamed God for those hardships and hardened my heart. I felt bitter at God for allowing me to go through a hard marriage and divorce. In my arrogance, I played the victim and ran from him instead of turning to God, who had all the power to heal my marriage and change our hearts. As I look back, I can see his love for me in the people he put in my life to love me, the disciples who never stopped praying for me. He answered my heart's desires and blessed my children. I knew that I couldn't keep running from Him and His love. My heart softened because I could see God never gave up on me! It's been a blessing being part of this church. The Peninsula Fellowship Group have opened their hearts to me and welcomed me into their family. What a blessing it is to be back with Brock and Anne again. God has brought me home where I belong. Reflection Of Our Time At The "Lift Us Up" Marriage Retreat
On the weekend of November 4th and 5th, the Santa Clarita Valley Church of Christ hosted a married retreat entitled “Lift Us Up.” A few couples from the SF Bay Fellowship went down to Oxnard to attend this refreshing weekend. Our very own Brock and Anne Roby were the featured speakers. Christians around the area participated in this retreat and spent a few days focusing on God and our marriages. The messages were entitled “The Right Foundation,” “The Heavy Lifting,” and “Lift Us Up”. It is always a good time to remember how marriage is an amazing blessing and privilege, as well as one of the remnants of the Garden of Eden. It is an earthly example of the timeless mystery of how Christ loves the Church. Our marriages are meant to reflect this heavenly relationship – a high calling. Yet, we also live in the world, and our culture affects our views on marriage. It is not the end all be all, and it is not an outdated relic of the past either, but it has a special place in the sight of God. It should be honored the way God desires it to be. We are grateful for the opportunity to reflect on and strengthen our marriage. - Jason & Dianne, Oakland/Alameda Fellowship Group |
